Capitol School of Dance was established over 30 years ago, and brings dance training to students in Cornwall via our classes in Threemilestone,Truro and St Austell.  Kay Cecile Jones, the founder and Principal is a registered teacher with the Cecchetti Society, and is supported by a team of highly qualified teachers with international reputations.

At Capitol School of Dance we train in the Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet - What makes this method so unique and effective is its syllabus. Students are taught material that is appropriate to their growing bodies, and the syllabus builds on a constant thread from the lowest to the highest levels to ensure that every type of ballet movement is included.

The aim of our school is to train and educate our students to the highest possible standard in their chosen dance genre, be it Ballet, Modern Dance, Tap or Spanish.  Classes are open to all children from 4 years, and our students have many opportunities to perform from school shows, local and national dance festivals and competitions, as well as Duchy Ballet, Cornwall’s Youth Dance Ballet Company.

Many of our senior students have gone on to professional vocational schools around the country including The Royal Ballet, White Lodge, and now enjoy successful careers in the world of dance and theatre. If students continue ballet training to Intermediate and Advance levels, their exam marks count towards UCAS points.

At Capitol School of Dance we believe passionately that performing arts’ skills are building blocks in children and young people’s lives, and is crucial for their mental, physical and emotional development. Studies show that children who have participated in dance, music or theatre from a young age cope better in school, have increased attention spans, are creative problem-solvers who are better balanced and adjusted. This is an invaluable tool for self-confidence. It is not a coincidence that ballet/dance students are often academic high achievers.
